The Company

The P&A Group of Companies is a successful multi-award-winning family run business based in North Wales. We have been manufacturing and selling high quality timber products for thirty five years across several business streams including Zest 4 Leisure, P&A Pallets & Packaging and The Woodworks Garden Centre and Café and each one is dedicated to delivering a high level of customer satisfaction and top-quality products.

The Role – Purchasing Assistant

Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of the Purchasing and Supply Chain function by taking responsibility for the general / sundry purchasing activity for the whole P&A Group and supporting with supply chain administration for Zest 4 Leisure. Full training will be provided on certain aspects of the role, enabling you to thrive and build your career within purchasing.

Your duties will include, although not be limited to:

  • Processing purchase requests and raising purchase orders for a wide range of inventory including production raw materials, general consumables, point of sale printing, equipment and repairs, PPE, and training
  • Building and managing good working relationships with business partners and suppliers to ensure competitive prices
  • Uploading and updating supplier, product, and stock information on our ERP software (SAP Business One) and spreadsheets
  • Ensuring the ‘Out of Stock’ report and transport schedule is maintained on a daily basis, and that due dates are accurate and deliveries are on time
  • Resolving invoice queries and processing goods returns
  • Preparing outstanding order reports for suppliers and chasing late deliveries
  • Supporting the team with stock checks when required
  • Notifying the Purchasing Manager of discrepancies in stock count and investigating when appropriate

Requirements – Purchasing Assistant

  • Proven experience within a purchasing administration role  
  • Experience of SAP Business one or similar ERP system
  • IT literate, with good knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Strong verbal and written communication with the ability to build good working relationships both internally and externally
  • Commercially aware yet with a high level of attention to detail
  • Fast, accurate keyboard skills and highly numerate
  • Supportive team player who takes pride in delivering high levels of customer satisfaction

Although not essential, the ability to speak and write in Polish would be an advantage.

You’ll be employed on a permanent contract, working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm, from our Zest 4 Leisure Warehouse and Distribution Centre at River Lane, Saltney.
