Tension Control Bolts (TCB) is a designer, manufacturer and worldwide distributor of the most efficient High Strength Pre-loaded bolting system.

Having made significant investment into technology since our company was established 20 years ago, the business operates in a lean manner to provide an efficient service for customers across the globe. This has led to an outstanding reputation built by a dedicated and professional team of 50 colleagues.

Despite the global pandemic, there has been increasing global demand for our market leading products, and we have recently invested in the expansion of our warehouse, testing laboratory, and workshop facilities. The Role – Quality Engineer

Reporting to the Operations Manager, as the Quality Engineer you’ll be responsible for resolving day to day quality issues across the production, laboratory, and logistics areas, in addition to managing and reducing scrap costs, arranging product rework and improving quality control standards.

You’ll communicate and collaborate with colleagues across all areas of the business, ensuring the operation runs smoothly and driving up our quality performance levels, working to the ISO9001 framework.

Your duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Reviewing and analysing production quality to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications or production problems
  • Working with the team to drive out non-conforming production issues
  • Building on our existing processes to create and maintain Standard Work Instructions and departmental processes for all production tasks
  • Utilising 8D methodology and facilitating its use within the Operations teams, fostering a quality mind-set where problem solving and preventative actions is everyday language
  • Running weekly review meetings and producing reports on projects as required
  • Actively encouraging (through mentoring and personal involvement), a culture of continuous improvement to achieve and exceed the key business objectives

Working from the company premises in Wrexham, North Wales, your hours of work will be Monday to Thursday 8:30am to 5pm, and Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm.

Our Requirements – Quality Engineer

  • Proven experience gained as a Quality Engineer, ideally within a manufacturing environment
  • Experience of working within the ISO9001 framework
  • A solid understanding of quality methodologies
  • Process driven, with an analytical and methodical mindset
  • Superb verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to lead small project teams and build strong working relationships
  • IT literacy with good knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Superb problem-solving skills, with a high level of attention to detail

Although not essential, a relevant manufacturing or engineering related degree would be advantageous, as would experience of creating procedures to comply with ISO.
