The Role – Assistant Income Officer

Under the direction of the Income Manager, you’ll support the Incomes Team in maximising rental income by communicating with customers to negotiate and administer payments of rent. This will involve:

  • Communicating with tenants via telephone and email, and in person when a tenant visits reception
  • Responding to rental enquiries via email, telephone, and live chat
  • Assisting customers using the online payment system
  • Signposting tenants to financial advice agencies, and making appointments for tenants that would benefit from a welfare visit
  • Liaising with our Finance team to raise invoices
  • Calculating and administering Direct Debit payments, chasing failed payments where appropriate and undertaking all admin tasks relating to Direct Debit system
  • Assisting the Income Manager with production / distribution of rent account statements and letters
  • Updating the CRM system, tenant diaries, and tenant profiling information
  • Liaising with tenants, housing departments and local authorities as tenancies terminate, and administering tenancy addendums and balance transfers
  • Assisting with the management of court order cases
  • Administering the biennial application of increases to fair rents

The Package

  • Salary of £23,500
  • Permanent contract, working 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm (some flexibility available with start and finish times)

Our Requirements – Assistant Income Officer

  • Experience gained within a busy office environment
  • Ability to hold everyday conversations in Welsh
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Excellent communication skills, with a confident and polite telephone manner
  • Ability to solve problems, with a solutions-focused and can-do attitude

Although not essential, previous experience of telephone call handling and credit control gained within a housing organisation would be advantageous.
