Junior Project Manager

This is a very dynamic position for an enthusiastic individual with a keen interest in engineering, to develop from an initial support role into an extremely fulfilling, autonomous one.

The ability to learn quickly and willingness to drive the success of the company’s projects are fundamental requirements, as are excellent literacy, numeracy and IT skills.

You will need to be able to remain calm, be meticulous in your approach, and most importantly, be passionate about all aspects of project management. This could be an extremely challenging and sometimes frustrating role, that will require a significant amount of emotional resilience to fulfil it.

The ideal applicant will have gained some experience within an engineering / manufacturing environment, and experience using ERP/MRP systems is desirable.

The Company

Unimaq Ltd is a global leader specialising in the design, development and manufacturing of large precision machines and equipment to print preformed beverage cans at speeds exceeding 2000 cans per minute. The fully automated high-speed machines are designed, manufactured, built and tested in Wrexham before being exported all over the world.

Established for more than 20 years, we pride ourselves on innovation, boasting a highly knowledgeable, expert and multicultural workforce who benefit from a friendly environment with a strong emphasis on individual autonomy, teamwork, and business involvement.

The Role – Junior Project Manager

Initially, you will be supporting the Production and Projects Manager in all aspects of the project life cycle. Your responsibilities will include creating and maintaining schedules, generating relevant documentation, communicating effectively with both customers and suppliers, all while liaising with all departments within Unimaq.

In addition, you will need to develop sound engineering knowledge to enable checking of Bills of Materials, and a good understanding of manufacturing processes in order to anticipate lead times and set procurement priorities.

A large portion of the role includes working with our ERP system, in order to create and schedule works orders, monitor parts procurement and maintain Bills of Materials based on engineering changes.

This role comes with vast potential for growth for the right person, who can demonstrate the necessary attitude and aptitude to make the position their own. The vision is for the successful applicant to become the Project Manager, taking sole responsibility for all projects within Unimaq, operating autonomously to drive and deliver on time, on budget, highly successful projects. We are looking for someone to come on board and really make this role their own, putting their own stamp on the project management process and effect real change within the business.

The Package

As the Junior Project Manager, you’ll be part of a friendly working environment, where you’ll be encouraged to work independently using your own initiative, and you will benefit from:

  • Starting salary in the region of £20,000 to £25,000 with the level dependent on experience
  • Private pension and healthcare cover after one years’ service
