We are looking for a talented Software Engineering Technical Lead to join us at this exciting time, as we evolve our technology to compete at the forefront of this rapidly evolving sector.

The Role - Software Engineering Technical Lead

Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you’ll be responsible for managing and leading a Software Engineering team whose focus is on the effective design, implementation and operation of Moneypenny software products and services. You’ll also collaborate with stakeholders and product managers to understand business requirements and influence product requirements and design.

40% of your time will be spent on management duties with around 60% on software development. You will predominantly be working in C# .NET, with the remaining in VB.NET, Node.js, SQL, React, and Vue.js.

Your duties will include, although will not be limited to:

  • Recruiting, mentoring, and managing an effective software engineering team
  • Leading on the test approach, integration of software and providing expert advice to both team and management on the software operating environment
  • Supporting product and departmental managers in communicating strategy and product fit and effectiveness to stakeholders at all levels
  • Ensuring that the team’s technical product documentation is always complete, accurate and coherent
  • Ensuring troubleshooting and resolution of issues throughout the product life cycle, including out of hours support for incident resolution
  • Defining, leading, and encouraging continuous improvement of the team’s delivery and development processes
  • Working with project and product leads to design software and creating implementable specifications and tasks at product and roadmap level
  • Working with 3rd parties where necessary providing direction, support, and documentation

Our Requirements - Software Engineering Technical Lead

  • Experience of recruiting, managing and mentoring a team
  • Proven experience designing and writing robust software for large scale applications in a fast-changing environment with rapid release cycles
  • Knowledge in one or more mainstream development language/frameworks such as C# .NET, VB.NET, Node.js, SQL, React, or Vue.js
  • Expertise in mainstream development frameworks and deployment tool chains
  • Proficiency in database design and use in software applications
  • Knowledge of open-source practices
  • Expertise in web architecture and key technologies (HTTP, DNS, distributed design)
  • Knowledge of test-driven development and broader testing and QA concerns
  • Leadership experience of project working and professional software development processes, including agile
  • Expertise in choosing and applying design patterns
  • Effective leadership and collaboration inside and outside the team with the ability to influence diverse stakeholders
