Accounts Manager

Are you a highly motivated, experienced bookkeeper who thrives on taking a hands-on approach as part of a small office team and would also relish the opportunity to develop into or utilise your experience gained with management accounting? Who will I be working with?

Established for nearly 30 years, Baynes & Son Haulage is an award-winning family run business located in the heart of North Wales, providing general haulage, pallet logistics and parcel delivery services to customers across the UK and overseas. With a focus on providing a first class and reliable service, the friendly, professional and proactive team of 35 personnel have gained the business an enviable reputation, and the company is proud to have been recently awarded ‘Palletforce Depot of the Year’ for the seventh time.

What will the role of Accounts Manager entail?

Reporting to and supporting the Managing Director, as the Accounts Manager you will take a proactive and organised approach to managing the finance function, taking responsibility for timely and accurate bookkeeping. Your duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Processing purchase and sales invoices using Sage Line 50
  • Reconciling bank accounts
  • Undertaking credit control tasks and allocating payments
  • Liaising with the external accountants
  • Managing cash-flow
  • Processing VAT returns
  • Answering the telephone and assisting with queries and requests professionally

Following training if required, you will also complete monthly payroll journals and produce, analyse and report on monthly management accounts.

What will I need to be considered for this Accounts Manager vacancy?

  • Proven experience within a similar role encompassing bookkeeping / accounting
  • Solid working knowledge of Sage Line 50
  • Superb communication skills both written and verbal
  • High level of numeracy and literacy
  • Accurate and timely data entry skills
  • IT literacy with working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Team player with a flexible approach towards tasks
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision whilst effective as part of a small team

Although not essential, qualifications or study towards AAT, ACCA, ACA or CIMA, would be highly advantageous.

Salary: Circa. £25,000, potentially negotiable dependent on experience and qualifications

Additional Benefits: Professional development opportunities, discretionary annual bonus, and employer contributory pension scheme after probation period.

Working Hours: 8:30am to 5:30pm, Monday to Friday, however flexibility may be required to meet the needs of the business.
