Support Worker (3 x 12 hour night shifts per week)

Rewarding opportunity to support vulnerable people within one of our hostels, for a compassionate individual with either NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care, and / or experience gained within a care / support environment, and / or extensive knowledge of support needs related to homelessness.

Our Noddfa Hostel in Colwyn Bay provides temporary supported housing accommodation to vulnerable people, creating support plans based on individual needs whilst helping them to find somewhere more permanent to live.

The Role – Support Worker (Night Shifts)

You will work alone to ensure the safety of Noddfa Hostel and its residents during the night time hours, responding to any incidents or emergences as and when they occur. Your duties will include:

  • Carrying out regular security and fire safety checks of the building throughout the night
  • Engaging with residents throughout the night as requested, safeguarding their physical and emotional health and wellbeing
  • Responding to any incidents, and keeping accurate resident records as required including handover files, shift records etc.
  • Reporting to the daytime staff at handover
  • Attending meetings in daytime hours with notice e.g. Teams meetings, training etc.

The Package

  • Permanent contract, working 3 x 12 hour shifts on a Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday
  • Salaried role with pay equivalent to £9.90 per hour

Our Requirements – Support Worker (Night Shifts)

You must have either:

  • Experience gained within a care / support environment or similar and / or
  • An NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care and / or
  • Extensive knowledge of support needs related to homelessness

You must also have:

  • A willingness to improve Welsh language skills so that you are comfortable with everyday conversations (if not already)
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • An awareness of the support needs of vulnerable people with the ability to work alone with confidence and good judgement
  • A non-judgemental and supportive approach, with ability to handle highly confidential situations in professional manner
  • An ability to understand and stay within professional boundaries
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
