Part Time Project Worker (Vulnerable People / Mental Health / Substance Misuse)

Working 21 hours per week, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.

Our Noddfa Hostel in Colwyn Bay provides temporary supported housing accommodation to vulnerable people, creating support plans based on individual needs whilst helping them to find somewhere more permanent to live.

The Role – Project Worker (Vulnerable People / Mental Health / Substance Misuse)

Reporting to and supported by the Manager at Noddfa Hostel, you will work closely with residents as you provide support / housing management, drafting written support plans for each individual to work towards. You will achieve this by:

• Assisting residents with their planning and preparation for moving on to more permanent accommodation
• Assisting residents with their claims for housing and associated benefits
• Maintaining accurate hostel records and resident files
• Responding to and managing any incidents at the hostel appropriately
• Completing room checks and ensuring all users maintain the property, where needed providing practical support and guidance
• Ensuring housekeeping and cleaning tasks are regularly carried out at the hostel
• Providing out of hours, on call cover on a rota basis when required

You’ll be working 21 hours per week Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, either 9am to 5pm or 10am to 6pm.

Our Requirements – Project Worker (Vulnerable People / Mental Health / Substance Misuse)

• Experience gained within either a housing or supportive environment such as care, or extensive knowledge of support needs related to homelessness
• A willingness to learn Welsh
• A full driving licence, with a car available to use for work purposes (business mileage paid)
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
• An awareness of the support needs of vulnerable people with the ability to work alone with confidence and good judgement
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• A non-judgemental and supportive approach, with ability to handle highly confidential situations in professional manner
• Willing to become part of our out of hours, on call cover on a rota basis
