Social Care Service Manager – Learning Disabilities Supported Living

Cartref Ni is a not-for-profit organisation and a registered charity, that provides 24/7 support to adults with learning disabilities enabling them to live in their own home in the counties of Conwy, Denbighshire and Flintshire.

With offices located in St Asaph in North Wales, we have been operating for more than 25 years and are proud of the 125 colleagues who support people to be as independent as possible, to fulfil their potential, be part of their communities and to live their dreams.

With good inspection reports from CIW and local authorities, the services we provide are very well regarded by the people we support and their families. We now have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Social Care Service Manager to join the fold.

What will this role of Social Care Service Manager entail? 

Joining our hands-on management team who are committed to ensuring continued delivery of high-quality services, as the Social Care Service Manager you will manage our existing services but also help the company to develop and offer new services to the people we currently serve and to new communities, for example in the field of transition, active support, challenging behaviour or learning disability nursing.

You will meet with people and / or their advocates who may require a service to discuss what is required and how best to deliver it. You will make sure it meets their needs, specifically taking in to account their well-being, choices, needs and wishes, encouraging them to get involved in their own plans and day to day decisions.

You will oversee the recruitment, appointment and general management of support staff, being on hand to chair team meetings, provide effective supervision and conduct annual appraisal sessions. You’ll also ensure that the service remains compliant with any regulatory and legislative requirements such as safeguarding and health and safety.

What will I need to be considered for this Social Care Service Manager vacancy?

  • Proven experience in supporting people with learning disabilities, accompanied by an NVQ level 4 certificate or equivalent qualification in social care
  • Demonstrable track record of managing a service
  • Ability to motivate and lead others, and effectively manage and resolve conflict
  • Knowledge of the legislation relating to learning disability services
  • Full driving licence and access to your own transport

What will I receive in return?

As the Social Care Service Manager, you will receive a salary of £28,700, in addition to a generous annual leave allowance increasing with service, and the benefit of a staff rewards scheme with retail discount perks.

You’ll be employed on a permanent contract with full time hours, although there may be some opportunity for flexibility.

Predominantly you’ll be working from recently refurbished offices in St Asaph, (Denbighshire, North Wales), conveniently located near to the A55. Travel will be required across Flintshire, Denbighshire and Conwy where services are provided.
