Quality Control Technician

The Roberts Group consists of Polyroof, Res-Tec and Roberts Manufacturing, whom manufacture the products supplied by Polyroof and Res-Tec. Established in 1984, Polyroof has been manufacturing cold liquid applied roofing systems from our headquarters in Flint, North Wales for the UK and international flat roofing markets. The more recently established Res-Tec has rapidly grown into a leading force within the merchant roofing market.

What will this role of Quality Control Technician entail?

As a Quality Control Technician, you will be based within the fast paced and growing manufacturing / laboratory department. This is a key role where you will monitor, safeguard and improve the quality of products and manufacturing processes.

Your duties will include, although not be limited to:

  • Inspecting and testing products and intermediates manufactured on the shop floor, using viscosity tests (viscometers), gel time testing, SG checks, brush outs etc
  • Inspecting incoming raw materials
  • Entering test data into the quality control database
  • Determining any additions which need to be made to adjust the formulations to within the set criteria specification
  • Approving or rejecting manufactured products after testing
  • Preparing, labelling and filing retained samples
  • Improving existing and creating new 5S procedures for the Quality Control Laboratory

What will I need in order to be considered for this Quality Control Technician role?

  • Enthusiasm and willingness to learn
  • Either attained as a minimum A-levels which ideally will include science subjects, or have gained a foundation of experience within quality control
  • Superb organisation skills, taking a logical approach toward tasks and problem solving
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Highly motivated and able to work effectively under pressure in a deadline-oriented environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office

What will I receive in return?

As a Quality Control Technician, you’ll receive a salary of £18,000 to £23,000 with the level dependent on experience, excellent potential for career progression, along with 23 annual leave plus bank holidays which will increase after 2 years’ service by one day per year, up to a maximum of 27 days plus bank holidays.

You’ll be working within a business where open communication and strong teamwork is at the heart. Full training and support on our products will be provided, to complement your existing customer service experience.

Contract: Permanent, working Monday to Thursday, 8:30am until 5:00pm and Friday, 8:30am to 3:00pm.
