Senior or Principal Hydrologist – Options for some working from home

We are expanding our capabilities across all our services in response to a growing demand in UK project work, and we are interested in hearing from experienced Hydrologists (or related disciplines) to compliment and deepen our existing team and play a key role in helping us grow our business.

Our Company

Envireau Water is one of the UK’s leading independent specialist water consultancies. We’re a passionate team of dedicated professionals spread across our four offices in Derbyshire, Yorkshire, Scotland, and Wales. We provide expert guidance on the management and regulation of natural water systems, with a reputation underpinned by over 25 years of experience.

Our growing, dynamic organisation has developed a culture with a positive and professional ethos. Rather than feeling like a small cog in a large wheel, at Envireau Water you will get the opportunity to make a real impact with your work. You will be given the space and responsibility to show what you can do, and you will be rewarded for the positive difference that you make for clients and the business.

The Roles – Senior or Principal Hydrologist

We are a technical force, comprised of a team with diverse experiences and expertise. As the Senior or Principal Hydrologist you will lead our team to deliver technical and regulatory solutions to sustainably manage natural water systems across the UK.

You will carry out both field and office-based technical activities and will be involved in a broad range of project work across our core sectors including, but not limited to flood risk and drainage assessment, and hydrological modelling (including FloodModeller and TuFlow, river restoration, natural flood mitigation, and wetland design).

The Package

As a Hydrologist you’ll be employed by a supportive organisation which promotes career development opportunities, challenges, and above all, job satisfaction. You will benefit from a working environment in which you can balance your lifestyle, and we take professional development seriously and support our people through in house and external training, conference attendance and involvement with professional bodies, actively supporting post graduate training and chartership. You will also benefit from:

  • A salary in the region of £30,000 to £50,000, with the starting level based on experience and qualifications
  • Permanent contract, working 40 hours per week within Monday to Friday. Flexibility available with start and finish times
  • Opportunities to continue to develop your career, whilst you build your own client portfolio
  • 26 days annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Team days and events
  • Performance based individual bonus scheme
  • Contributory private pension
  • Medical insurance and life cover

Ideally, you’ll be working from our office in Richmond (North Yorkshire) with the option for some working from home. However, we would also be interested to hear from candidates who may reside closer to our other office locations in either Alloa (Scotland), Melbourne (Derbyshire), or Mold (North Wales).

Our Requirements – Senior or Principal Hydrologist

  • A post graduate degree level qualification in Hydrology, Catchment Management, Geomorphology or similar, along with practical and technical experience
  • Experience of UK wide flood risk assessment and mitigation policy and regulation
  • High level of numeracy, with experience of numerical modelling using FloodModeller and TuFlow
  • Ambitious and enthusiastic, and a confident verbal and written communicator
  • A self-starter, with a flexible and adaptable approach to work, with imaginative and practical problem-solving skills
  • Superb leadership and project management skills
  • A valid full UK driving licence

While Envireau Water is an equal opportunities employer, please note that this role will

require a level of fitness suitable for fieldwork involving walking over steep and rough terrain.

To apply, please submit your CV and a short covering letter explaining what you can offer Envireau Water, as well as details of your current salary package and / or expectations.

All applications for this Senior or Principal Hydrologist vacancy are to be submitted online via the apply button on this web page.
