We are looking for a talented Data Engineer to join us at this exciting time, as we evolve our technology to compete at the forefront of this rapidly evolving sector.

The Role – Data Engineer

As the Data Engineer, you will help us to put data insight at the heart of our operation. Reporting to the Head of Data Engineering, you’ll be comfortable supporting the data needs of multiple teams, systems and products, helping the Data Team to deliver reliable, flexible and scalable systems that are simple to support and enhance.

Excited by the prospect of optimising and redesigning our company’s data architecture to support our next generation of products and data initiatives, your focus will be on:

  • Developing and maintaining scalable data pipelines to support required data integrations
  • Designing data integration, data quality and support frameworks using re-usable design patterns to reduce the maintenance effort and provide consistent systems
  • Assembling large, complex data sets
  • Identifying, designing and implementing internal process improvements such as automation of manual processes
  • Implementing processes and systems to monitor data quality, ensuring production data is always accurate and available
  • Collaborating with analytics and business teams to improve data models that feed business intelligence and other analytical tools, increasing data accessibility and fostering data-driven decision making across the organisation
  • Implementing data testing best practice for the developed pipelines
  • Performing data analysis required to troubleshoot data related issues and assist in the resolution of those issues
  • Evaluating and implementing open source and vendor tools as required

Our Requirements – Data Engineer

  • Proven experience as a Data Engineer
  • Experience and an understanding of techniques to create highly accurate and high-performing warehousing solutions on SQL Server using SSIS and T-SQL to answer BI requirements
  • Be an SQL expert, who can write stored procedures and demonstrate a strong knowledge of the Kimball methodology and cloud-based warehouse design patterns
  • Solid understanding of traditional DBA disciplines and the importance of control on production systems
  • Commercial experience or evidence of learning on a cloud data platform, ideally Azure
  • Understanding of the GDPR regulations and be fully conversant with the evolving ICO legislation and guidelines

The Package

As the Data Engineer you will benefit from:

  • A salary in the region of £40,000 to £50,000 with the level dependent on experience
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays

You will be employed on a permanent contract, working 37.5 hours per week within Monday to Friday.

Initially you will be required to work from home to due COVID-19 restrictions, although the position is based at our offices in Wrexham, North Wales.
