Trainee Pest Control Technician

Established for over a decade, Swift Pest Control is a highly reputable, professional, family-run business based in the Vale of Clwyd, providing pest control services to commercial, agricultural, domestic and public sector customers across North Wales, Cheshire and Shropshire, dealing effectively with a wide variety of pests and bird problems.

Due to continued expansion and growth, we have an exciting opportunity for a Trainee Pest Control Technician to join our friendly and close-knit team, where you’ll receive first-class, fully paid training and support enabling you to become a key member of our team and take responsibility for carrying out pest control inspection and treatments.

The Role – Trainee Pest Control Technician

The first stage of your career at Swift Pest Control will focus on completing a high-quality training programme, enabling you to gain the skills and knowledge you need to become a fully skilled Technician. The initial 12 to 18-month training period will include:

  • Shadowing experienced Technicians and Team Leaders in the field
  • Organised office-based training sessions and British Pest Control Association (BPCA) on-line training
  • Several specialised 1 to 2-day professional courses for rodents / insects / pesticides, certifying and enabling you to handle pesticides by law
  • A range of Health and Safety courses
  • Completion of the Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH) Level 2 exam in Pest Control

During and upon completion of your training, your duties will include, although not be limited to: 

  • Completing routine service inspections at customer sites such as food premises, commercial sites, farms, estates, care homes, colleges and schools
  • Providing treatment reports, advising customers on work carried out and providing recommendations to avoid further pest problems
  • Attending call outs for pest infestations and carrying out follow-up visits at sites with on-going issues

The Package

As a Trainee Pest Control Technician, you’ll be part of a growing business where you’ll be given the support and training to reach your full potential. Your efforts and performance will be noticed and rewarded, with the opportunity to take on more responsibility as you excel in the role.

You will also benefit from:

  • A starting salary of £19,000, rising incrementally to £24,000 over the course of the training period and as you progress to RSPH Level 2 and 3
  • Permanent contract working full time hours, 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday. Flexibility is required to work weekends from time to time
  • A company van, fuel card and all service equipment are provided
  • Company mobile phone, uniform, and Personal Protective Equipment are also provided
  • Overtime occasionally available, paid at time and a half

You’ll be working at customer sites across North Wales, Cheshire, and Shropshire, with an office base in Ruthin (Denbighshire, North Wales).

Our Requirements – Trainee Pest Control Technician

  • Experience is not essential, but you’ll need to have a passion and aptitude for developing a career within pest control
  • Hold a full clean UK driving licence
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Enthusiastic, positive, and personable with a desire to learn
  • A high level of attention to detail with good problem-solving skills
