Our Company

Orthios is focused on regenerative development with a wide expertise in waste recycling, plastic waste processing, electrical and mechanical engineering, logistic, construction and project delivery. Our objective is to deliver local solutions for climate challenges by recycling and converting non-recyclable material into added value products and green energy.

We are an ambitious company, developing an Eco Park in Holyhead (North Wales) that is focused on delivering green technologies to international markets. Our first major projects focus on the introduction of the Polymer Processing Facility, and the Material Recovery Facility which will, through pyrolysis, convert plastics previously judged non-recyclable to oil.

The Role – Chemical Process Engineer

As a Chemical Process Engineer working as part of a team reporting into Senior Process Engineer, you will oversee the chemical and physical processes and machinery used to transform raw materials into valuable products. You will achieve this by:

  • Monitoring and analysing processes to ensure safe and compliant operations
  • Operating, stabilising, and improving the production workflow
  • Determining areas that need improvement
  • Collaborating with operations and engineering teams, developing solutions and leading technical evaluations and diagnostics

The Package

  • A salary circa £40,000, negotiable dependent on experience and qualifications
  • Permanent contract, working 4 days on 4 days off

You will work from our site in Holyhead as part of a team on a 24/7 rota working 2 days and 2 nights followed by a 4-day rest period. You’ll work 12.5 hour shifts, including a 15 minute handover at the start / end of each shift. We encourage a healthy work life balance, with supportive diversity and equality policies around working arrangements.

Our Requirements – Chemical Process Engineer

  • Experience gained as a Process Engineer or in a similar role
  • An aptitude and keen interest in chemistry
  • Good IT skills, with working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, numeracy skills, and analytical skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure, with excellent problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work well within a team
  • Willing to work shifts

Although not essential, experience gained within a manufacturing industry, and a degree-level qualification in engineering, chemical engineering, industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field, would be highly advantageous.
