The Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways are two of the UK's most popular heritage railways, located in the heart of picturesque Snowdonia. Harbour Station in Porthmadog is our busiest station and the centre of our operations.

We are looking for hardworking, honest individuals to join our dedicated team of cleaning staff working on the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways. This role will predominantly involve working shifts at Harbour Station in Porthmadog, however cleaners may be required to work at other stations on a relief basis. At Harbour Station the main responsibilities are cleaning the Café & Bar and the station platforms and toilets. In these unprecedented times our cleaning staff will have special responsibility for ensuring our premises are Covid-secure for both staff and customers. You must be able to work cleanly and tidily; ideally you will have experience of commercial cleaning, however training can be provided if required.

  • ‘Front of House’ position so a friendly disposition
  • Able to work on own initiative or as directed
  • Team Player
  • Must be punctual and reliable at all times
  • Good communication skills

 

The ability to speak Welsh would be an advantage as would knowledge of the railways and their passengers; and the local area.

Candidates should be flexible and able to work shifts any day of the week. This position will require lone working. Candidates may be required to work in locations not easily accessible by public transport and 6am or earlier starts will be required therefore access to private transport and a full driving licence are desirable. 

A zero hours contract will be offered initially, hours of work will vary and may be flexible, to suit candidate.

This is a seasonal position to start as soon as possible to the end of October 2022. Rate of pay meets National Living Wage.
