The Role – Investment Executive (Business Finance)

Working within the Micro Loans department, as an Investment Executive you will be responsible for sourcing and appraising applications for investments, working towards investment targets and in line with our competencies. Your duties will include:  

• Conducting thorough management, financial, and commercial due diligence when considering investment opportunities and assessing the risks of each investment
• Negotiating terms and conditions relating to legal documentation for placing investments
• Preparing investment reports for credit sanction
• Maintaining and developing technical and industry specific knowledge to ensure best practice and compliance in investment activity
• Disseminating examples of best practice for applying to the fund to key business introducers and ensuring that the application process is continually refined and improved to provide the best possible customer service
• Developing and maintaining links and networks with key business introducers and intermediaries to source suitable investment opportunities
• Participating and representing the Development Bank at meetings, seminars, events and joint group activities

The Package

• Permanent contract, working 37 hours per week Monday to Friday (flexibility available with start and finish times around core hours generally between 8am and 6pm)
• Salary in the region of £30,000 to £35,000, with the level dependent on experience
• Hybrid working option, enabling you to combine working from home and our offices in Wrexham and / or Llandudno

Our Requirements – Investment Executive (Business Finance)

• Previous experience of analysing financial business information, gained either in a business support environment, or within a bank, accountancy practice, or similar
• Ability to understand and assess underlying cashflow assumptions, and experience of preparing credit reports
• A good understanding of risk assessment and investment processes and procedures
• Strong communication, influencing and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to prioritise and organise work under pressure
• High level of attention to detail

Although not essential, experience in investing or lending to SMEs, along with a good understanding of the role of the public sector in SME finance and of the regional business environment would be highly advantageous, as would having the ability to converse in Welsh.
